Call for Volunteers: Sand Fences for Dunes

FRESPACE Members: We have a great opportunity to spend some time on the beach and assist the Edisto Beach State Park in installing sand fence. This fence will trap blowing sand to create new dunes. Previously installed fencing is proving to be an effective tool for dune restoration.

This will be a social event as much as a work detail, meeting fellow FRESPACE members and getting to know park staff.

Interested individuals should be able to do moderate physical activity. The park will provide ATVs to shuttle volunteers down the beach. Closed toe shoes, work clothes, gloves, hat, sunscreen, and plenty of water are recommended.

The dates and times are Wednesdays April 13 and 20 between 1:30 am and 4:00 pm weather permitting. Meet at the big white building in the day use area.
