Safe Zone for Nesting Shorebirds

On April 3, seven FRESPACE members assisted SCDNR and park staff in posting the state park’s beach to establish a safe zone for nesting shorebirds. The project involved installing 2×2 posts approximately every 75 feet. String and flagging tape were stretched between each post and signs were attached designating the dunes as a shorebird nesting area and prohibiting entrance to the protected area. The protected area extends from just past the campground to Jeremy inlet. Please respect the posted areas as even a short disturbance can result in failed nests.
