Frespace Members Volunteer for State Park Trail Cleanup

On Saturday, February 22 several Frespace members participated in a trail cleanup originating from the Environmental Learning Center. Most of this cleanup involved pruning back the palmettos that overgrow the trails. As with most Frespace volunteer projects this was as much a social event as work project.

Another trail cleanup project will take place in the next few weeks to prune the trails radiating out from the Live Oak campground. This second trail project should complete the trail work for this spring.

In addition to trail work, other volunteer projects on tap for this spring include:

  • Assisting Park staff with the creation of new ADA compliant concrete sidewalks in the park’s day use area.
  • And the continued installation of sand fences along the shoreline to promote development of new sand dunes and protect the existing dunes from further erosion.
