FRESPACE Members Volunteer For Sand Dune Fencing Project

You may have noticed the triangles of sand fencing along the state park beach. Well, it doesn’t come that way. The fencing comes in 50-foot rolls – without the fence posts.

So, FRESPACE volunteers help state park staff cut up those rolls into workable sections while inserting 3 fence posts for each section. This prep work makes it much easier to handle and distribute the sand fencing for upcoming installation projects. FRESPACE folks and state park staff did all this work in one afternoon. Once installed, these sand fence sections will help protect the fragile dunes from further erosion and encourage development of new dunes.

FRESPACE paid for all the sand fencing and provided most of the labor for the installation. This was possible due to folks who became FRESPACE members, and their dues and labor made it happen. If you are a member, we thank you. If you are not a member, please join us and help our state park preserve its beauty.
