In the aftermath of Irma, there is a lot of debris on our Edisto Beach State Park trails. FRESPACE is asking for volunteers to help with the clean-up effort. We will meet at the Ranger Station on State Cabin Road on Wednesday, September 27th, at 9:00AM. The project will last up to 3 hours, depending on the number of volunteers.
The work will involve moving relatively light branches, limbs, and sawed logs off the trail. Jon will have a Ranger available to run a chain saw, but the majority of the debris can be moved off the trail without downsizing. Jon plans to have three golf carts available so we shouldn’t have to spend too much time (or energy) walking. Again, depending on the number of volunteers, we will hopefully be able to break into groups to cover a larger area. The first priority is to clear Scott Creek Trail from Hwy 174 to the Spanish Mount Trail. Jon would like to have the trail from that point to the ELC cleared by the beginning of October. Jon has provided the attached file that is marked up to show the work area.
Please bring gloves, insect repellent and water. Also, loppers and hand saws would be useful. If you can help, please respond to Bob Hare at [email protected].
Thanks!
