Turtles come and go, but Jack was local. A resident who stayed throughout the year. He was a piebald deer with distinctive white coloring who was a marvel to those who caught sight of him.
He was a celebrity as locals and visitors posted photos of Jack on social media. Seeing Jack was almost as good as seeing a loggerhead turtle on shore!
As part of Turtle Fest, FRESPACE sponsored a sculpture in honor of Jack. Our local artists, Susalee Lamb and Ginger Sanders, created a work of dignity and beauty. Jack looks majestic and very realistic.
Jack will be auctioned off at the Turtle Auction on October 11. For now, you can visit him at The Environmental Learning Center in Edisto Beach State Park.
Thanks to everyone who volunteered and attended the Turtle Fest to make it a great success!
